Broomdasher, a London-based acapella group singing traditional English Folk Songs, will bring a touch of the countryside to the city with their special “Garden Set” at Manchester Square as part of London Open Squares Weekend on 10 June.

Broomdasher's members have sung at prestigious venues like the Southbank Centre; Edinburgh’s Usher Hall; London Colosseum; The Roundhouse and Union Chapel. They met at the home of folk music, Cecil Sharp House, and formed the group two years ago to spread the appreciation and enjoyment of folk harmony.

They have been in regular demand ever since and appear at folk festivals and clubs throughout the year – as well as singing in gardens and squares in the summer.

Later this year, they are leading a “Big Sing” with hundreds of singers from community choirs at The South Downs Folk Festival and they are also giving a very special performance with The Chelsea Pensioners at The Royal Chelsea Hospital.

To add to the atmosphere in Manchester Square, their set is made up of songs of love, loss, the summer and the harvest and will include If I Were A Blackbird; Bushes and Briars; Rosebud in June and Wild Mountain Thyme. The first of three shows will be at 2.30pm.
