Broomdasher are rehearsing for their first London headlining gig at The Harrison next Tuesday (10 October) buoyed by the enthusiastic support of Coope Boyes and Simpson, who they supported at the trio’s last ever London show this week.

Lester Simpson said “They have exquisite arrangements, superb singing voices – and they’re a bit edgy. It’s a fantastic combination – just keep doing it”.

Barry Coope, who had already seen Broomdasher when they supported him and John Tams at The Ram, added “The balance of voices is fantastic, and with their stagecraft, they present a really entertaining and engaging show.”

The trio, who are retiring this weekend after 24 years together, join an impressive array of folk artistes supporting and encouraging Broomdasher by donating songs from their own repertoire for the group to arrange in their unique style.

John Tams; Julie Matthews and Chris While; Roy Bailey and Ray Hearne have already donated sings that will be included in the repertoire.

John Tams donated “How High the Price/All Clouds The Sky” to be premiered at Broomdasher’s appearance at The South Downs Festival in Bognor last month and when they sang it for him at The Ram he said “Lovely, don’t change a thing”.

Their performance at South Downs drew such warm appreciation that they were immediately booked again for next year’s Festival. “You guys were fantastic!” said Festival Director Roger Nash.

The acapella group from London sing at The Harrison Folk Club; Harrison street, Kings Cross, London on Tuesday and at Loughton Folk Club on Thursday 19 October.
