Festive Frolics In Camden
Broomdasher are tuning up nicely for their Festive Frolics this year.
With Christmas only weeks away, they are turning their attention to Wassails and wintery songs to entertain and bring some good cheer to Camden at the Green Note on Saturday 14th December 1.30pm doors.
The Wassail is a traditional hot drink, such as mulled wine with herbs and spices which would traditionally be served up in midwinter. Wassailers (in this case Broomdasher!), would go from door to door, asking for a Wassail or pie, before singing a few carols for the household. There is no available record on how many houses the wassailers visited before being overcome by the quantity of hospitality.
Wassails have now become the song as well as the drink , and Broomdasher will bring out the favourites. To make sure this is a real community event, the words of the carols are provided too - although the there might be a surprise or two in some of the tune selection.
