The Diary Opens Again For 2021 Tour

Brooomdasher’s acclaimed musical celebrating The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady author Edith Holden’s 150th birthday begins it’s rescheduled tour at Keats Library on Saturday 3rd July as part of the Hampstead Arts festival.

The book was a worldwide phenomenon when published in 1977, Edith’s beautiful paintings and words creating an exhilarating journey through the seasons, celebrating birds; flowers; animals and life in the countryside in 1906.

Broomdasher intertwine her descriptions with rousing, rueful and romantic folk songs collected by Cecil Sharp and Ralph Vaughan Williams at the same time she was compiling her diary. Edith is played by accomplished actress, Margaret Moore, who is also a member of the group.

The show was commissioned by Solihull Council to commemorate their famous local resident and premiered in the town before the lockdown. Critics acclaimed it as:

The tour continues in September, to coincide with Edith’s birthday on 26th and then runs through til Christmas with ten dates confirmed and others being discussed
